Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Tristan (also called Drystan or Trystan) is a famous hero from old stories in Cornwall, England. He is one of the main characters in the sad love story of Tristan and Isolde. Tristan was also a brave Knight of the Round Table, serving the legendary King Arthur.

In the story, Tristan is sent to Ireland by his uncle, the King of Cornwall. His mission is to bring back a princess named Isolde so the king can marry her. However, Tristan and Isolde accidentally fall in love. As a Knight of the Round Table, Sir Tristan was known for being a very skilled archer and a close friend to King Arthur.
