Tristan Thomas was born on May 23, 1986, in Brisbane. He is an Australian track and field athlete. He is best known for running the 400 metres hurdles.
Tristan trained at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. He was very good at many running distances. He was nationally ranked in events like the 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, and 400m hurdles. Tristan won the 400 metres hurdles national championship four times. He is the second-best Australian ever in this event and holds the record for Tasmania.
Tristan showed his talent early. In 2004, he won four gold medals at the Australian All Schools Championships. He competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London for the 400 metres hurdles. He made it to the semifinals but did not qualify for the final race.
He also competed in three World Championships (in 2009, 2011, and 2013). In 2009, he won a bronze medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay race. Tristan competed in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He missed the 2010 and 2014 games because of injuries. Today, Tristan is a maths teacher.

Tristan Thomas went to Corpus Christi for primary school. This school is in Hobart, Tasmania. For high school, he attended St Virgils, also in Hobart. After high school, Tristan studied at the Australian National University. He earned degrees in Engineering and Commerce.
