Troy Randall Brown Jr. is an American professional basketball player. He was born on July 28, 1999. He currently plays for the Cangrejeros de Santurce team in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league.
When he was in his last year of high school, Troy was chosen as a McDonald's All-American. This is a big honor for young basketball players. He then played college basketball for the Oregon Ducks. After college, the Washington Wizards picked him as the 15th player in the 2018 NBA draft.

Early Life and Family
Troy Brown Jr. comes from a family of athletes. His mother played track and his father played basketball. They both competed in college at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Troy's sister, Jada, also played basketball at the University of Kansas.
Becoming a College Star
Many experts thought Troy Brown Jr. was one of the best young basketball players in 2017. On November 7, 2016, he decided to play college basketball for the Oregon Ducks. He was a top player for them from the very beginning of his college career.
College Basketball Career
Troy started his college basketball journey on November 10, 2017. In his first game, he scored 18 points for the Oregon Ducks. A few days later, he had 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in another win.
He showed his skill by getting his first "double-double" (scoring double digits in two different stats) on December 8. He had 12 points and 10 rebounds in that game. Later, he got a season-high 12 rebounds on December 11.
On December 13, Troy almost got a "triple-double" (double digits in three stats). He had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. On New Year's Eve, he scored his season-high of 21 points. He matched this score again on February 18, 2018.
Because he played so well, Troy decided to enter the 2018 NBA draft after just one year at Oregon. In that single season, he averaged 11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He was the team's best rebounder and second-best in assists.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the Washington Wizards (2018–2021)
On June 21, 2018, the Washington Wizards chose Troy Brown Jr. as the 15th pick in the NBA draft. He signed his first professional contract with them on July 5.
Troy made his first NBA appearance on October 24, 2018. He scored four points in a game against the Golden State Warriors. On March 31, 2019, he had his best game of that season, scoring 24 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
On December 23, 2019, Troy had his career-best game with 26 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists against the New York Knicks. A few weeks later, on January 4, 2020, he grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.
Time with the Chicago Bulls (2021–2022)
On March 25, 2021, Troy was traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team trade.
While with the Bulls, on January 11, 2022, he had a career-high six steals in a game. On April 10, he scored a season-high 17 points and had 11 rebounds.
Joining the Los Angeles Lakers (2022–2023)
Troy Brown Jr. signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 1, 2022. He played one season with the team.
Playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves (2023–2024)
On July 9, 2023, Troy signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played for them for part of the season.
Moving to the Detroit Pistons (2024)
On February 7, 2024, Troy was traded to the Detroit Pistons. He was later released by the Pistons on June 29, 2024.
Playing Overseas (2024)
On October 11, 2024, Troy signed with Manisa Basket, a team in Turkey's Basketbol Süper Ligi.
Current Team: Cangrejeros de Santurce (2025–Present)
On February 7, 2025, Troy signed with the Cangrejeros de Santurce team in Puerto Rico. This is his current team.
Other Activities
Besides playing basketball, Troy Brown Jr. also has a video blog called "Life Outside the NBA." He started it on October 7, 2020. He also writes articles for the Basketballnews.com website, sharing his thoughts on basketball and other topics.
National Team Experience
Troy has also played for the United States national basketball team. He won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. This was a big international tournament for players under 17 years old.
