Twin Lakes are two lakes that are connected to each other. You can find them in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains in eastern California. They are located at the bottom of the southeastern side of Mammoth Mountain. These lakes are part of the huge Inyo National Forest in Mono County.
Exploring Twin Lakes
Twin Lakes are the lowest lakes in an area called the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Imagine standing by the water! On one side, you'll see amazing cliffs made of lava. These cliffs were formed a long time ago when Mammoth Mountain erupted.
What's Around the Lakes?
The other side of Twin Lakes is a great place for outdoor fun. Here, you'll find the Twin Lakes Campground, which is part of the Inyo National Forest. It's a perfect spot for camping and enjoying nature. There's also Tamarack Lodge, which is part of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. This lodge offers a cozy place to stay and enjoy the mountain views.
