Tyler Reed Dillon (born February 27, 1992) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 10 Chevrolet ZL1 for Kaulig Racing. He has also raced in other series like the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Canada Series.
Ty Dillon became the 2011 ARCA Racing Series champion. At 19 years old, he was the youngest champion in that series for a while. His family has a strong connection to NASCAR. His grandfather, Richard Childress, owns Richard Childress Racing, a well-known NASCAR team. Ty's older brother, Austin Dillon, is also a NASCAR driver. Their father, Mike Dillon, was a NASCAR driver too and is now a general manager for Richard Childress Racing.

Racing Career Highlights
Starting Out in Racing
Ty Dillon started his racing journey in small cars like go-karts and Bandoleros. In 2009, he moved up to the K&N Pro Series East. He won one race in that series in August 2010 at Gresham Motorsports Park.
In 2010, Ty raced in the ARCA Racing Series part-time and won two races. The next year, 2011, he raced full-time in ARCA. He had an amazing season, winning seven races and becoming the series champion!
NASCAR Truck Series Races
Ty made his first start in the Camping World Truck Series in 2011. He finished 18th at Kentucky Speedway. In 2012, he raced full-time for his grandfather's team, Richard Childress Racing. He quickly showed his talent, finishing 3rd in his second Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.
In 2012, Ty had a great start to the season with many top-10 finishes. On August 31, he earned his first Truck Series win at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He continued to impress in 2013, winning at Kentucky Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. At Texas, his win was special because it was the 100th victory for a No. 3 car or truck in NASCAR history. Ty finished second in the 2013 Truck Series standings and was even voted the series' Most Popular Driver.
After 2013, Ty raced part-time in the Truck Series for several years. He competed in special events like the Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway. In 2024, Ty returned to full-time Truck Series racing with Rackley W.A.R.. He later took on a coaching role for another driver.

NASCAR Xfinity Series Races
Ty Dillon made his debut in the Nationwide Series (now called the Xfinity Series) in June 2012. He finished 3rd in the first Nationwide Series race ever held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In 2014, he moved to full-time Xfinity Series racing for Richard Childress Racing.
He quickly earned his first Xfinity Series pole position at Las Vegas. On July 26, 2014, Ty won his first Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, holding off Kyle Busch in a thrilling finish.
In 2015, Ty had a fantastic year, even without a win. He finished 3rd in the final points standings, with a career-high 25 top-10 finishes and 12 top-5 finishes. In 2016, he won a $100,000 bonus in the Dash 4 Cash event at Richmond. Ty finished 5th in the points standings for 2016, with five second-place finishes. He continued to race part-time in the Xfinity Series in 2017 and 2018. In 2021, he raced part-time for Joe Gibbs Racing and Our Motorsports.
NASCAR Cup Series Races
Ty Dillon made his first start in the top-tier Sprint Cup Series (now the Cup Series) in July 2014 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He finished 25th in that race. In 2016, he raced part-time for Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing and even filled in for injured driver Tony Stewart in some races. He earned a 7th-place finish at Talladega that year.
From 2017 to 2020, Ty raced full-time in the Cup Series for Germain Racing. In 2018, he achieved his first career top-10 finish in the Cup Series, finishing 6th at Daytona. In 2019, he again finished 6th at the Daytona 500. He also earned his first-ever top-5 finish, coming in 4th at the July Daytona race. In 2020, he had his best career finish, placing 3rd at Talladega Superspeedway. Germain Racing closed down after the 2020 season.
In 2021, Ty raced part-time for Gaunt Brothers Racing, driving a Toyota, which was a change from his usual Chevrolet cars. He also joined 23XI Racing for a special race. In 2022, he drove the No. 42 Chevrolet for Petty GMS Motorsports full-time. He finished 10th at the Bristol dirt race that year.
For the 2023 season, Ty drove the No. 77 for Spire Motorsports full-time. He raced in several Cup Series events in 2024 for different teams, including Kaulig Racing, Team AmeriVet, and even his grandfather's team, Richard Childress Racing.
Ty Dillon is set to return to full-time Cup Series racing in 2025, driving the No. 10 car for Kaulig Racing.


Other Racing Adventures
In 2014, Ty also tried his hand at the Trans-Am Series, a different type of racing. He finished 4th in his debut race at Road America.
Personal Life
Ty Dillon grew up in North Carolina. His parents are Mike Dillon and Tina Dillon. As mentioned, his brother is fellow NASCAR driver Austin Dillon.
On December 20, 2014, Ty married his girlfriend, Haley Carey. Haley was also a driver and a cheerleader for the Charlotte Hornets. They have two children: a daughter named Oakley Ray, born in 2017, and a son named Kapton Reed, born in 2020.
Ty Dillon is known for sharing his life and racing experiences through weekly video blogs called The Ride. He also used to co-own a sports management company with his brother, Austin. In 2019, Ty made a small appearance in the movie Stuber.
