Tyaughton Lake, also known as Tyax Lake, is a beautiful lake found in the Bridge River Country area. This spot is in the west-central part of British Columbia, Canada. It sits north of Carpenter Lake, which is a big water storage area along the Bridge River. Carpenter Lake was made by the Terzaghi Dam as part of the Bridge River Power Project.

Tyaughton Lake is one of the largest and best-known fishing lakes in the valleys near the Bridge River. Its name comes from a Chilcotin word. This word means "jumping fish," which sounds like a lot of fun!

Around the lake, you'll find many vacation homes where people go to relax. There used to be an older fishing lodge called Tyaughton Lake Lodge near the southern end. On the northwestern side, you can find the amazing Tyax Mountain Lake Resort. This resort was built in the 1980s. When it was finished, it was the biggest log building constructed in British Columbia during the 1900s!

Even though the lake shares its name with Tyaughton Creek, it's not directly on the creek itself. A short stream connects the lake to the lower part of Tyaughton Creek's canyon. You can get to Tyaughton Lake mainly by road. You'll take the Gun Creek Forest Service Road from a turn-off on BC Highway 40. This highway is also known as the Gold Bridge-Lillooet Road. The turn-off is about halfway between where Tyaughton Creek and Gun Creek flow into Carpenter Lake.
