Tyler Ian Bray (born December 27, 1991) is an American former professional football player. He played as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers. He spent five seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and later played for the Chicago Bears.

Early Life and High School Football

Tyler Bray grew up in Kingsburg, California. He went to Kingsburg High School. As a senior, he led his high school football team, the Vikings, to a perfect season. They won all 13 games. During that season, he threw for 3,321 yards and scored 41 touchdowns. Experts considered him one of the best high school quarterbacks. He first planned to go to San Diego State but later chose to play for the University of Tennessee.

College Football Career

Tyler Bray played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers. He was a quarterback for three seasons.

2010 Season: Freshman Year Highlights

In 2010, Tyler Bray played in nine games as a freshman. He first appeared in a game against Tennessee-Martin. Later, he started his first game against the Memphis Tigers. In that game, he threw for 325 yards and scored five touchdowns. This set new Tennessee football records for a single half. He continued to play well, helping the Vols win four games in November. This made them eligible for a bowl game. He finished his first season with 1,849 passing yards and 18 touchdowns. Both were new records for a freshman at Tennessee.

2011 Season: Starting Quarterback and Injury

Tyler Bray started the 2011 season as the main quarterback. In the first two games, he played very well. He threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns against Montana. The next week, he threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns against Cincinnati. In that game, he broke a record held by Peyton Manning. Bray threw at least two touchdown passes in eight games in a row.

However, during a game against the Georgia Bulldogs, Bray broke his thumb. This injury kept him from playing for several weeks. The team struggled without him. He returned for the last two games of the season. The Volunteers finished the season with a 5–7 record. This meant they did not qualify for a bowl game.

2012 Season: Junior Year and Records

In 2012, Tyler Bray started all 12 games for the Volunteers. The team had high hopes, but their defense struggled. Bray often had to play very well to make up for it. In a game against the Troy Trojans, Bray had an amazing day. He set a new school record with 530 passing yards and five touchdowns. This broke Peyton Manning's previous record.

At the end of the season, the team's coach was fired. Bray decided to leave college early. He announced he would enter the 2013 NFL draft.
