Tyler Brockman (born 22 November 2002) is a professional Australian rules footballer. He plays for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Before joining the Eagles, Tyler played for the Hawthorn Hawks from 2021 to 2023.
Early Football Days
Tyler Brockman started playing football at a young age. He played for a junior club called Wembley Downs JFC. Later, he joined the Subiaco Colts team. Tyler has Indigenous heritage. He is also the nephew of Greg Broughton, who used to play for the Fremantle Dockers and the Gold Coast Suns.
Tyler became a very exciting player. He was good at both playing in the middle of the field and scoring goals. Many AFL clubs were interested in him. The West Coast Eagles were keen, even though they had late picks in the 2020 draft. The Hawthorn Hawks chose him with pick number 46. Tyler was surprised when the Hawks picked him!
Tyler's AFL Career
Tyler quickly got used to playing for Hawthorn. He showed how good he was in practice games before the 2021 season. In one game against the North Melbourne Kangaroos, he kicked three goals in the first quarter!
Tyler played his first official AFL game for Hawthorn in the first round of the 2021 AFL season. He was one of three new players to debut in that game. It was against the Essendon Bombers at Marvel Stadium. Tyler kicked two goals in his very first game.
The 2022 season was tough for Tyler because of injuries. He had some muscle problems before the season even started. Then, in his first game for Box Hill (Hawthorn's reserve team), he got injured again. He had to have surgery on his shoulder, which meant he missed a lot of games that year.
After the 2023 AFL season, Tyler wanted to move back to a club in Western Australia. On 14 October, he was traded to the West Coast Eagles.
