Tyler Jordon Harvey (born July 17, 1993) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Shanghai Sharks in China and also for the Illawarra Hawks in Australia. Tyler is known for being a top scorer. He played college basketball for the Eastern Washington Eagles. He usually plays as a point guard or shooting guard. Tyler graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California, in 2011.

College Basketball Journey
Tyler Harvey was a very important player for the Eastern Washington Eagles. Their coach, Jim Hayford, said Tyler was the player they were building their team around.
Leading the Eagles to Success
When Tyler was a junior, he helped the Eastern Washington Eagles have an amazing season. They won 26 games, which was a record for their school. They also won their conference title and made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2015.
In the tournament, the Eagles played against Georgetown. They played well but lost the game, ending their great season.
Top Scorer in the Nation
Tyler finished that season as the best scorer in Division I college basketball. He averaged 23.1 points per game! He also made the most three-point shots in the country.
Because of his amazing performance, Tyler was named an Honorable Mention All-American. This was a big honor, and he was the first Eastern Washington player to get it since Rodney Stuckey in 2007. He was also named to the First-Team All-Big Sky Conference for the second year in a row. Tyler was also recognized for his good grades, earning a First-Team Academic All-American award.
On April 1, 2015, Tyler decided to leave college early to enter the 2015 NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
Tyler Harvey has played for many different teams around the world since starting his professional career.
Starting with the Erie BayHawks (2015)
On June 25, 2015, the Orlando Magic picked Tyler as the 51st player in the 2015 NBA draft. He later joined the Magic's team for the NBA Summer League.
In October 2015, he joined the Erie BayHawks. This team was part of the NBA Development League, which is now called the G League. In one exciting game, the BayHawks were losing by a lot of points. Tyler made six three-point shots in a row, helping his team come back and win in overtime!
Playing in Europe
Tyler then moved to Europe to play basketball.
- In July 2016, he signed with FIAT Torino in Italy.
- In August 2017, he joined Olympique Antibes in France.
Memphis Hustle (2018–2019)
In July 2018, Tyler's NBA rights were traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. For the 2018–19 season, he played for their G League team, the Memphis Hustle. On February 2, 2019, Tyler made 13 three-point shots in one game! This tied the record for the most three-pointers made in a single NBA G League game.
Ratiopharm Ulm (2019–2020)
In July 2019, Tyler signed with Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany.
Illawarra Hawks, Cangrejeros de Santurce, and Shanghai Sharks (2020–Present)
In July 2020, Tyler signed with the Illawarra Hawks in Australia's NBL. He was a top player for them, averaging over 20 points per game in the 2020–21 season. He was even named to the All-NBL First Team.
He signed a new deal with the Hawks in July 2021 and again in May 2024. In the 2024–25 NBL season, he was again named to the All-NBL First Team. He helped the Hawks finish at the top of the regular season standings.
After the NBL season in 2024, he played for Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rico.
In March 2025, Tyler signed with the Shanghai Sharks in China for the rest of their 2024–25 season.
NBA Draft Rights
Tyler's NBA draft rights have been traded a few times:
- He was first drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2015.
- In July 2018, his rights were traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
- In August 2021, his NBA rights were traded to the Charlotte Hornets.
Personal Life
Tyler Harvey met his wife, Haley Stading, at Eastern Washington University. She played soccer there. They got married in July 2019 and welcomed their son in March 2023.
Tyler and his family even appeared on two episodes of the TV show Family Feud in May 2023.
