Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is a group of museums and archives located across the Tyne and Wear area in the North East of England. They are managed by local councils in the area and have been since 1986.
TWAM gets money from the five local councils they work with. Since 2012, they also receive financial support from Arts Council England. Working Together
Working with other museums and galleries is very important for TWAM. One great example is The Late Shows. This event has been happening every May since 2007. During The Late Shows, many museums and galleries open their doors for free evening visits. Another big project was "A History of the North East in 100 Objects," which started in June 2013. This project showcased 100 important items from the region's past.
