Tyreek Hill (born March 1, 1994) is an American professional football player. He is a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football at Garden City, Oklahoma State, and West Alabama. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in 2016.
Tyreek Hill was once a track and field star. When he started in the NFL, he mostly played as a return specialist. This means he would catch kicks or punts and run them back. Later, he became a full-time wide receiver. Because of his amazing speed, he earned the nickname "Cheetah". He has been chosen for the Pro Bowl every year he has played. He won Super Bowl LIV with the Chiefs. He was also named to the National Football League 2010s All-Decade Team as a punt returner.

Early Life and High School Sports
Tyreek Hill was born on March 1, 1994. His parents are Anesha Sanchez and Derrick Shaw. He grew up in Douglas, Georgia.
He went to Coffee High School. There, he was a champion in track and field. In 2012, he won both the 100-meter and 200-meter races at the Georgia 5A state meet.
On May 26, 2012, Tyreek ran very fast at a track event in Florida. He set a new best time in the 100 meters (10.19 seconds). He also set a personal record in the 200 meters (20.14 seconds). His 200-meter time was almost a national high school record. It was the fastest time for a junior athlete that year. Track and Field News named him their "High School Athlete of the Year" in 2012. He was also a USA Today All-American for track and field.
College Football Career
Playing for Garden City
Tyreek Hill went to Garden City Community College in Kansas. He played football and ran track there. In 2013, he was a sophomore. He ran for 659 rushing yards and scored five touchdowns. He also caught 67 passes for 532 receiving yards for the Broncbusters football team.
Time at Oklahoma State
After Garden City, many colleges wanted Tyreek Hill to play for them. He chose to go to Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma.
He played his first game for the Cowboys on August 30, 2014. He caught six passes for 62 yards. On September 25, 2014, he scored his first college touchdown against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. In that game, he had three catches for 50 yards. He also ran six times for 39 yards and returned three kicks for 62 yards.
In a game against the Iowa State Cyclones, he had 148 kick return yards. He also returned his first kick for a touchdown that season. On November 1, 2014, he ran for 102 yards and scored his first rushing touchdown against the Kansas State Wildcats.
His last game for Oklahoma State was on December 6, 2014. He helped his team win against the Oklahoma Sooners. He returned a punt for a 92-yard touchdown.
In his one season at Oklahoma State, Hill had 534 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also had 381 receiving yards and one touchdown. He returned kicks for 740 yards and two touchdowns. He returned punts for 256 yards and one touchdown. Overall, he gained 1,811 all-purpose yards and scored six touchdowns. He was ranked 11th in the nation for all-purpose yards.
Playing for West Alabama
On September 1, 2015, the University of West Alabama announced that Hill would play football for them.
He played in 11 games for West Alabama. He ran for 237 yards and one touchdown. He caught 27 passes for 444 yards and a touchdown. He also returned punts and kicks for touchdowns. He averaged 135 all-purpose yards per game.

Getting Drafted into the NFL
Many experts thought Tyreek Hill might not be drafted into the NFL. He wasn't invited to the NFL Combine. But he showed his skills at West Alabama's Pro Day. Scouts were very impressed by his speed. His coach said that about 20 NFL teams were interested in him.

The Kansas City Chiefs picked Tyreek Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was the first player from West Alabama to be drafted since 1974. On May 17, 2016, the Chiefs signed Hill to a four-year contract.
Kansas City Chiefs (2016–2021)
Rookie Year: 2016 Season
Tyreek Hill started the 2016 season as the Chiefs' main punt and kick returner. He was also their fourth wide receiver. In his first NFL game, he caught a nine-yard touchdown pass. The Chiefs won the game in overtime.
In Week 8, he caught five passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Two weeks later, he had ten catches for 89 yards. He helped the Chiefs win a comeback game.
In Week 12, he had an amazing game against the Denver Broncos. He returned a kickoff for an 86-yard touchdown. He also ran for a three-yard touchdown. And he caught a three-yard touchdown pass with only seconds left. He was the first player since 1965 to score a kick return, rushing, and receiving touchdown in one game. He ran at 22.77 miles per hour (36.64 km/h), the fastest speed by any NFL player that season. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for this performance.
In Week 14, he returned a punt for a 78-yard touchdown. He also caught a 36-yard touchdown pass. This helped the Chiefs win and take first place in their division. He earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. In the last game of the season, he returned a punt for a 95-yard touchdown. This earned him his second Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Hill finished his first season with 61 catches for 593 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 267 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He returned kicks for 384 yards and one touchdown. He returned punts for 592 yards and two touchdowns. His punt return yards and touchdowns were the best in the NFL. He was chosen for the 2017 Pro Bowl as a return specialist. He was also named First-team All-Pro as a punt returner. He was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team. Other players ranked him 36th among the top 100 players in the NFL.
2017 Season
In the first game of the 2017 season, Hill had a career-high 133 receiving yards. This included a 75-yard touchdown catch. In Week 5, he scored an 82-yard punt return touchdown. In Week 13, he had 185 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including a 79-yard score. He was named to his second Pro Bowl as a return specialist.
He finished the season with 75 catches for 1,183 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 25 punt returns for 204 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs made the playoffs but lost in the Wild Card Round. Hill was ranked 40th among the top 100 NFL players.
2018 Season
In Week 1 of 2018, Hill returned a punt 91 yards for a touchdown. He also had 169 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This was his second time scoring three touchdowns in one game. In Week 6, he scored three receiving touchdowns again, with 142 yards. In Week 10, he had 117 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 11, he set a career-high with 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hill finished the season with 87 catches for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was second on the team in catches and led in receiving yards and touchdowns. He was also among the league leaders in receiving yards and touchdowns. He was named to his third Pro Bowl. He was also named first-team All-Pro in a special "flex" position and second-team All-Pro as a wide receiver. The Chiefs won their playoff game against the Colts. However, they lost the AFC Championship game to the Patriots. Hill was ranked 19th among the top 100 NFL players.
2019: Super Bowl Champions

On September 6, 2019, Hill signed a new three-year contract.
In the first game of the season, he hurt his shoulder. He missed some games but returned in Week 6. In that game, he caught five passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 7, he had a 57-yard touchdown catch. He was later fined for flashing his peace sign as he scored. In Week 9, he had 140 yards and a touchdown. In Week 10, he had 11 catches for 157 yards and a touchdown.
Overall, Hill finished the 2019 season with 58 catches for 860 yards and seven touchdowns. He was nominated for his fourth Pro Bowl.
The Chiefs finished with a 12–4 record and won their division. They earned a first-round bye in the playoffs. In the Divisional Round, they won against the Texans. In the AFC Championship, Hill caught five passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns as the Chiefs won. Two weeks later, in Super Bowl LIV, Hill caught nine passes for 105 yards. This included a huge 44-yard catch that helped the Chiefs come back and win 31–20. He was ranked 22nd among the top 100 NFL players.
2020: Second Super Bowl Appearance
Hill started the 2020 season by scoring a receiving touchdown in four straight games. In Week 12, he had an amazing game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He caught 13 passes for a career-high 269 yards and three touchdowns. He was the first player since 2006 to have over 200 receiving yards in just one quarter.
He was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for this game. Hill finished the 2020 season with 87 catches for 1,276 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl nomination and was named First-team All-Pro for the third time. He was ranked 15th among the top 100 NFL players.
In the playoffs, Hill had 110 yards against the Browns. In the AFC Championship, he had 172 yards, including a 71-yard catch, as the Chiefs won. In Super Bowl LV, he had seven catches for 73 yards, but the Chiefs lost to the Buccaneers.
2021 Season

Hill started the 2021 season strong with 11 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown. In Week 4, he had 11 catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns. In Week 8, he had 12 catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. In Week 15, he had 12 catches for 148 yards and a touchdown.
He was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list in December but was activated quickly. In Week 17, he broke the Chiefs' team record for catches in a season. He finished the 2021 season with 111 catches for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns. He earned his sixth straight Pro Bowl nomination.
In the playoffs, Hill had a touchdown in the Wild Card Round win. In the Divisional Round, he had 11 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown in an overtime win. In the AFC Championship, he had seven catches for 78 yards and a touchdown, but the Chiefs lost. He was ranked 15th among the top 100 NFL players.
Miami Dolphins (2022–Present)
2022 Season
On March 23, 2022, the Chiefs traded Hill to the Miami Dolphins. In return, the Chiefs received several draft picks. After the trade, Hill signed a four-year contract worth $120 million. This made him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at the time.
Hill played his first game for the Dolphins in Week 1. He caught eight passes for 94 yards. The next week, he had 11 catches for 190 yards and two touchdowns in a comeback win. In Week 4, he had 160 yards. In Week 6, he had 177 receiving yards. In Week 8, he had 12 catches for 188 yards. In Week 9, he had 143 yards and a touchdown. In Week 10, he had 146 yards and a touchdown. He was named to his seventh Pro Bowl and earned first-team All-Pro honors for the fourth time.
Hill finished the year with career highs in catches (119) and receiving yards (1,710). He helped the Dolphins reach the playoffs. He was ranked seventh among the top 100 NFL players.
2023 Season
In Week 1 of 2023, Hill caught 11 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 3, he had 157 yards and one touchdown in a big win. In Week 5, he had 181 yards and one touchdown. This was his 13th game with over 150 receiving yards. In Week 6, he had 163 yards and a touchdown. In Week 7, he scored a touchdown in his sixth game of the season.
By Week 8, he had already gained over 1,000 receiving yards. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. He was the first player in the Super Bowl era to reach 1,000 receiving yards by the eighth game of the season. In Week 11, he had 146 yards and a touchdown. In Week 13, he had 157 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 17, he reached 10,000 career receiving yards.
In the 2023 season, Hill finished with 119 catches for a team-record 1,799 receiving yards. He also had 13 receiving touchdowns. He led the NFL in receiving yards and tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns. He earned Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro honors. He scored the Dolphins' only touchdown in their playoff loss to the Chiefs.
2024 Season
Before his first game of the 2024 season, Hill had a minor traffic stop. He still played and caught seven passes for 130 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown. In Week 14, he had 10 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown.
The Dolphins did not make the playoffs in 2024. This was the first time Hill missed the playoffs in his career. He had his lowest number of catches and yards in five years. After the season, Hill expressed some frustration with the team. However, the Dolphins' general manager said Hill did not ask to be traded.

Tyreek Hill is married to Keeta Vaccaro. She is the sister of former NFL player Kenny Vaccaro. They got married in November 2023. In July 2024, they announced they are expecting their first child together, a baby girl. Tyreek Hill also has other children.
