Tyrell Deon Jenkins (born July 20, 1992) is a former professional baseball pitcher from the United States. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves.

Baseball Journey
Tyrell Jenkins was born on July 20, 1992, in Henderson, Texas. He grew up there with his mother, aunt, and grandmother. Tyrell went to Henderson High School. He was a talented athlete, playing basketball, baseball, and American football. In 2010, he planned to play both baseball and football at Baylor University.
Starting with the St. Louis Cardinals
The St. Louis Cardinals chose Tyrell Jenkins in the first round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. He decided to sign with the Cardinals for $1.3 million. This meant he would not go to Baylor University.
Tyrell began his professional baseball career in 2010 with the Johnson City Cardinals. He pitched in two games and did not allow any runs. He also got two strikeouts. In 2011, he returned to Johnson City. He had a 3.86 earned run average (ERA) and 55 strikeouts in 11 games. An ERA shows how many earned runs a pitcher gives up per nine innings.
In 2012, Tyrell played for the Quad Cities River Bandits. He started 19 games, but his season ended early due to a back injury. He finished that year with an ERA of 5.14 and 80 strikeouts.
Tyrell started the 2013 season with the Peoria Chiefs. Later that year, he moved up to the Palm Beach Cardinals. His season ended in August because he needed shoulder surgery. He finished with a 4.70 ERA in 13 starts. Tyrell returned to Palm Beach in 2014. He did not pitch his first game until June because he was recovering from his injury. In 13 starts, he had a 3.28 ERA and 41 strikeouts over 74 innings.
Playing for the Atlanta Braves
On November 17, 2014, Tyrell Jenkins was traded to the Atlanta Braves. He moved with another player, Shelby Miller. In return, the Cardinals received Jason Heyward and Jordan Walden.
Tyrell started the 2015 season with the Mississippi Braves. He played in 16 games, winning 5 and losing 5, with a 3.00 ERA. On July 9, he was promoted to the Gwinnett Braves. This team is part of the Triple-A International League. Tyrell stayed with Gwinnett for the rest of the year. He made 25 starts in total and had a 3.19 ERA. At the end of the season, he was named the Braves' Minor League Pitcher of the Year.
Tyrell began the 2016 season in Gwinnett's starting rotation. He pitched 57 and two-thirds innings and had a 2.97 ERA. In June, he started pitching as a relief pitcher. This change was made to help him get to the major leagues. On June 16, 2016, Tyrell was called up to the major leagues for the first time. He made his MLB debut six days later against the Miami Marlins. He pitched one inning and did not allow any runs.
On July 6, Tyrell made his first major league start. He pitched against the Philadelphia Phillies, throwing four and two-thirds innings and giving up one earned run. On July 29, 2016, Tyrell earned his first Major League win against the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched six innings, giving up one unearned run, four hits, and four walks. He also recorded four strikeouts. On August 20, he was sent back to Gwinnett. Tyrell was called back up to the Braves on September 17.
Time with Other Teams
On December 8, 2016, the Braves traded Tyrell Jenkins to the Texas Rangers. Another player, Brady Feigl, was also part of this trade. In return, the Braves received Luke Jackson. The Rangers later removed Tyrell from their roster on December 21. The Cincinnati Reds then claimed him on December 23.
On January 3, 2017, the San Diego Padres claimed Tyrell Jenkins. He started the season with the El Paso Chihuahuas. This team is in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. He had a difficult time there, with a record of 4 wins and 8 losses, and a 7.76 ERA. He pitched 82 and one-third innings and had 56 strikeouts. The Padres organization released Tyrell on July 21, 2017.
After Major League Baseball
In 2019, Tyrell Jenkins played for a softball team in Texas called The Kekambas. He was involved in an incident on the field on July 31. This led to him being suspended from the team for the rest of the season.
