Uchee Creek is a small river, also called a stream, located in the eastern part of Georgia, USA. It gets its name from the Yuchi (or Uchee) Native American people. They used to live in this area a long time ago. You might also see it spelled as Euchee Creek or Yuchi Creek.
The creek starts just north of Harlem. It then flows until it reaches the Little River, which is north of Evans. Roads like Harlem–Grovetown Road and William Few Parkway cross Uchee Creek in a couple of places. The stream flows through only a small part of one city, Grovetown, in its northwestern area.
Where Uchee Creek Flows
Uchee Creek begins its journey north of Harlem. This starting point is found between Fairview Drive and U.S. Route 221/Georgia State Route 47. The creek flows mostly to the southeast. It goes under several roads, including Robert Moore Road and Harlem–Grovetown Road.
As it continues, the creek twists and turns. It meets other smaller creeks that flow into it, like Spirit Creek and Horn Creek. It then flows north for a bit before turning back to the northeast.
The creek enters the city of Grovetown. Here, it flows along the western edge of the Grovetown Trails at Euchee Creek. This area is part of a future greenway, which is a natural path for people to enjoy. The creek goes under parts of the trail before leaving the property.
After leaving Grovetown, Uchee Creek flows north-northeast. It passes under Canterbury Farms Parkway and more sections of the Euchee Creek Greenway. Soon after, it flows under Interstate 20, a major highway. It also goes under William Few Parkway and meets Mill Branch.
Further along, the creek flows under Georgia State Route 232. It then travels through the Bartram Trail Golf Club. It twists and turns again, meeting Tudor Branch. The creek flows just west of Blanchard Woods Park. Finally, it goes under Washington Road at the G.B. "Dip" Lamkin Bridge. After meeting Long Branch, it flows under William Few Parkway one last time. The creek widens out briefly before narrowing as it reaches its end at the Little River.
