Ukaliqtuuq (Inuktitut: ᐅᑲᓕᖅᑑᖅ), once called Okolli Island, is a fascinating island in Canada's Arctic. It is located in the Hudson Strait, a large waterway in Nunavut, Canada. This island is part of the vast Arctic Archipelago, a group of many islands in the far north.
Ukaliqtuuq is an island found off the coast of Baffin Island, which is one of the biggest islands in the world. It is part of the Qikiqtaaluk Region in Nunavut. The island is about 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers) long and 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) wide. Its highest point is about 107 meters (351 feet) above sea level.
Location and Neighbors
Ukaliqtuuq is an uninhabited island, meaning no people live there permanently. It is quite close to a community called Kinngait. Kinngait is an Inuit hamlet, or small village, located on Dorset Island. It is only about 8.6 kilometers (5.3 miles) away from Ukaliqtuuq.
