Ulysses is a small town, also called a borough, in Potter County, Pennsylvania. It is located in a beautiful, rural area with many farms and forests. This region is known as the Pennsylvania Wilds.
In 2020, about 600 people lived in Ulysses. The town is special because it sits in the middle of the Triple Continental Divide. This means that water flowing from this area can end up in three different oceans! In 2019, the town celebrated its 150th birthday.
A Look Back in Time
When Ulysses was first settled in 1831, it had a different name. It was called Lewisville. This name honored Orange Lewis, an early settler and important farmer. He later became a justice of the peace and the county's treasurer.
However, the local post office and the town's newspaper always used the name Ulysses. Because of this, the town officially changed its name to Ulysses in 1968.
