Mine Safety in Uneeda
In 2006, there was a serious event at a coal mine near Uneeda. This event, along with another one nearby, made West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin take action. He asked all mines in West Virginia to pause their work. This "stand-down on mine safety" was to make sure everyone focused on keeping miners safe.
