Unity is a small, quiet place in Lane County, Oregon. It's not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's part of the county but doesn't have its own mayor or city council.
Unity is located right along Fall Creek. This creek flows just below the Fall Creek Reservoir. You can find Unity north of Lowell and southeast of bigger cities like Springfield and Eugene.
Exploring Unity's Special Features
Unity might be small, but it has some interesting landmarks. These include a historic bridge and a fun park. Both are great places to visit and learn about the area.
The Famous Unity Bridge
One of the most well-known spots in Unity is the Unity Bridge. This isn't just any bridge; it's a covered bridge. Covered bridges are special because they have roofs and walls, looking like long, wooden tunnels.
The Unity Bridge carries Lowell–Unity Road across Fall Creek. This road is also known as Lowell–Jasper Road. Covered bridges were built to protect the wooden parts from rain and snow. This helped them last much longer.
Fun at Unity Park
Just a little way past the Unity Bridge, you'll find Unity Park. This park is also called Fall Creek Park. It's a county park, which means it's managed by Lane County.
The park is about 1.3 kilometers (or 0.8 miles) downstream from the bridge. It's a great place for outdoor activities. You can enjoy nature and the beauty of Fall Creek.
