The press started in 1946. It helps share important ideas and research. It works like a team with all the universities. This team is called a "consortium." The press is found on the west side of the KU campus. It is also a member of the Association of University Presses.
What the Press Publishes
The University Press of Kansas publishes many interesting books. They often focus on American politics. This includes books about presidents and how the government works. They also publish books on military history.
Other topics include American history and environmental policy. They also cover film studies and law. Books about Indigenous studies, Kansas, and the Midwest are also important. In 1981, they decided to focus more on books about United States politics.
Kansas Open Books Initiative
