History of UoB
The university began in October 1970. It was created by an order from the governor of Balochistan, Riaz Hussain. In 1996, the local government passed a law about the university. This made it the main university in the province. It offers higher education in many subjects. These include arts, science, business, and humanities.
It first opened with only three departments. These were Physics, Chemistry, and Geology. Over time, many new departments were added. These include subjects like management, biochemistry, and education. The university also created special centers for research. These centers focus on areas like mineralogy and vaccinology. It also has a law college and several smaller campuses.
The university received 200 acres of land. This land included buildings that were once part of a mining college. This helped the university grow even more.
Departments and Studies
The University of Balochistan started with just three departments. Today, it has 46 different departments. It also has four special institutes and five research centers.
