The University of Balochistan (UoB) is a big public university in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. It's also called Balochistan University. This university is the oldest place for higher education in Balochistan. It first opened its doors in 1970.

About the University of Balochistan

The University of Balochistan (UoB) started in October 1970. It was created by an official order from the Governor of Balochistan. In 1996, the Balochistan Assembly passed a special law for the university. Later, in 2022, a new law was passed for all public universities in the province. UoB now follows this new law.

UoB is the largest general university in Balochistan. It offers many different subjects in Science, Arts, and Humanities. The university has grown a lot since it started. It now has 6 main areas of study called faculties. There are also 56 departments, 5 special centers, and a law college. This department helps share Balochistan's rich heritage, art, and architecture. The ancient site of Mehrgarh (from about 9000 BCE) is a big source of ideas for students and researchers. The Fine Arts Department helps students study Balochistan's cultural history in detail.
