History of UniNE

The University of Neuchâtel started from an older school called the Academy. This Academy was created in 1838 by King Frederick William IV of Prussia. At that time, he was also the Prince of Neuchâtel. The Academy offered degrees in arts and sciences.

Before 2005, the university followed a similar education system to France. Now, it uses the Bologna Process. This system has three main levels of university degrees: bachelor's, master's, and doctorate.
