Upton is a small village located in Norfolk, England. It sits right on the River Bure, which is part of the Broads national park. The name "Upton" means 'higher farm' or 'higher settlement', giving us a clue about its history.

Upton is about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Acle. It's also located roughly halfway between the cities of Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

How Upton is Governed

Upton is part of a larger area called the civil parish of Upton with Fishley. This parish is then part of the Broadland district. These local government areas help manage things like local services and planning for the community.

Exploring Upton's Landmarks

Upton has some interesting places to see, including an old church and unique natural areas.

St. Margaret's Church

The village is home to St. Margaret's Church. This church was built in a style known as "Perpendicular." This means it has tall, straight lines and large windows, which were popular in church architecture a long time ago.

Upton Dyke and the River Bure

Upton Dyke is a waterway that is about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) long. It connects the village directly to the River Bure. At the end of the dyke, you can find a very rare type of windmill called Palmers Hollow Post Mill.
