Urikupen Kyūjotai (ウリクペン救助隊), also known as Jungle Tales, is an exciting anime TV show. It was first made in Japan by Tatsunoko Productions and directed by Hiroshi Sasagawa. The show started on Fuji TV on September 30, 1974, and finished on March 29, 1975.
Later, in 1991, a company called Saban Entertainment brought the show to other parts of the world. They renamed it Jungle Tales. The original Japanese show had 156 short, 5-minute episodes. Saban Entertainment combined these into 26 longer, half-hour episodes for its international release.
The English voices for Jungle Tales were recorded in Canada by CINAR Studios, Inc. The show was shown on channels like YTV in Canada and Nick Jr. in the United States. When the show was changed for English-speaking audiences, some big differences were made. For example, all new music was created using a special electronic instrument called a synthesizer. Also, some characters got new names, and two characters even had their genders changed! At the end of each half-hour episode, a short music video was added to recap what happened in the story. Many other countries used this English version as a base for their own translated versions of the show.
What the Show is About
The story of Urikupen Kyūjotai or Jungle Tales takes place in a land called the Urikupen kingdom. In this kingdom, a special rescue team made up of animals helps other forest creatures. They go on exciting missions to save animals stuck in dangerous places.
Every week, the show highlights how the rescue team gets ready for a mission. They also give out a "Lifetime Achievement Award" to the rescue workers. This award celebrates their brave efforts and how much they help others.
