Ursuline College is a private Catholic college located in Pepper Pike, Ohio, in the United States. It was started in 1871 by the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland. This makes it one of the oldest colleges for women in the United States. It was also the first Catholic college for women in Ohio. In 2024, the college's leaders decided that Ursuline College would join Gannon University. It is now known as "Ursuline College Campus of Gannon University."

College History and Growth

Ursuline College has a long and interesting history. It has grown and changed over the years to offer many different programs.

Key Moments in Ursuline's History

In 1997, Ursuline College started a special nursing program. This program was designed for adults who were already working. It helped them earn a nursing degree faster.

In 2013, Ursuline College achieved a new status in sports. It became part of NCAA Division II. This meant its sports teams could compete at a higher level. Just one week later, a strong tornado hit the campus. The tornado had winds of 110 miles per hour. It knocked down many trees and damaged the gymnasium wall.

The gymnasium was repaired and made even better. In 2015, it reopened as the Sister Diana Stano Athletic Center. This building has the Jane and Lee Seidman Gymnasium. It is a large sports area with 1,000 seats. It is the home court for the college's basketball and volleyball teams.

In 2024, the college's leaders made a big decision. They approved plans for Ursuline College to merge with Gannon University. This means Ursuline College is now a part of Gannon University. It keeps its own academic and sports programs.

That conference is no longer active.

In 2024, Ursuline College made history in Ohio sports. It was the first four-year college in the state to add women's flag football. This new sport became part of its athletics program.
