The Utah Motorsports Campus is a special place for racing in Grantsville, near Tooele, Utah, United States. It used to be called Miller Motorsports Park from 2006 until October 2015. This track hosts many exciting events, including car, motorcycle, bicycle, and kart racing. It's also used for other events like company gatherings.

About the Track

The Utah Motorsports Campus is known for its different track layouts. These layouts can be changed to suit various types of races. During the yearly Tour of Utah bicycle race, the park is famous for holding a special time-trial stage. This is where cyclists race against the clock to see who is fastest.

History of the Campus

The Utah Motorsports Campus has an interesting history. On November 8, 2006, it was named the "Motorsports Facility of the Year." This award came from the Professional Motorsport World Expo in Cologne, Germany. It showed how important the track was becoming in the racing world.

In 2007, the park announced a big deal to bring the FIM Superbike World Championship to the track. This meant top motorcycle racers from around the world would compete there. The first Superbike World Championship race happened on June 1, 2008. The AMA Superbike Championship also raced there. To make sure both championships had their own space, they used different parts of the track. World Superbike used the Outer Course, while AMA Superbike used the Full Course.

Over the years, many other races have taken place at the campus. These include the American Le Mans Series and the Rolex Sports Car Series. Later, races like the K&N Pro Series West were added. The track also hosted off-road races, like the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, for many years. More recently, the first Nitro Rallycross event was held here in September 2021.

New Ownership

On May 8, 2015, it was announced that the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies would no longer run the park. This meant the track would close on October 31, 2015. However, people in Tooele County wanted the track to stay open.

Luckily, on October 13, 2015, Tooele County decided to sell the park. A company called Mitime Investment and Development Group bought it for $20 million. Mitime is part of a Chinese car company called Geely. After this, the track was renamed the Utah Motorsports Campus. Mitime officially took over on October 31, 2015.

There were some legal challenges to the sale at first, but Mitime started managing the facility in February 2016. By November 2018, the sale was fully completed, and the Utah Motorsports Campus continued its operations.

Track Layouts

The Utah Motorsports Campus has several different ways its track can be set up. This makes it very flexible for different types of races and events. Each layout offers a unique challenge for drivers and riders.

Track Records

Racing tracks keep records of the fastest laps ever driven or ridden. These are called "official race lap records." As of July 2023, many different vehicles and drivers have set records on the Utah Motorsports Campus. These records are set on the different track layouts, like the Full Course, Outer Course, and East Course.

For example, on the Full Course, the fastest record for a type of race car called LMP2 was set by Timo Bernhard in a Porsche RS Spyder Evo in 2007. On the Outer Course, Simon Pagenaud set a record in an Acura ARX-02a in 2009 for LMP1 cars. These records show how fast these vehicles can go on the track!
