Vijayender Pal Singh Badnore (born on May 12, 1948) is an Indian politician. He served as the 28th Governor of Punjab. He was also a Member of Parliament in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. He represented the Bhilwara area in Rajasthan. Mr. Badnore is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a major political party in India. He was also a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly four times.

Early Life and Family

Vijayender Pal Singh Badnore was born in Badnor, Rajasthan. His parents were Gopal Singh and Raj Kanwar Nathawad. He studied at Mayo College in Ajmer. There, he earned a degree in English and Business Management. He married Alka Singh on November 25, 1978. They have two children, a son named Avijit and a daughter named Divija.

Political Journey

Mr. Badnore has had a long career in Indian politics. He held several important positions.

Serving in Rajasthan

  • He was a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for many years. This is like being a state-level lawmaker.
  • He served from 1977 to 1980, 1985 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 1998 to 1999.
  • From 1988 to 1999, he was a Cabinet Minister for Irrigation in the Government of Rajasthan. This means he was in charge of water management for farms.
  • He also served as the vice-president of the BJP in Rajasthan for over 15 years.
