Vada is a small, quiet place in the state of Georgia, USA. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government. Instead, it's managed by the larger Decatur and Mitchell counties.

The Story of Vada

The community of Vada has an interesting history. It got its name from a girl named Vada Wooten. Her father was a local law enforcement officer, which means he helped keep the peace in the area.

A post office was opened in Vada in 1892. This was a big deal because it helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for about 15 years, closing its doors in 1907. Before it was called Vada, the community had a couple of other names. People sometimes called it "Harrell" or "Pull-Tight."
