Vadim Milov was born in a city called Ufa, which was part of the Soviet Union at the time. When the Soviet Union ended, he moved to Israel in 1992. A few years later, in 1996, he found his home in Switzerland, where he has lived ever since.

Big Wins and Tournaments
In 1996, Vadim Milov played in a famous tournament in Biel, Switzerland. He shared first place with Anatoly Karpov, who was the World Chess Champion at that time! This was a huge achievement.
He also won the Australian Open Chess Championship in 1999. This tournament was held in a beautiful place called Sunshine Coast.
Vadim Milov has shared first place in many other big tournaments. These include the Aeroflot Open in 2002, a tournament in Santo Domingo in 2003, and one in Geneva in 2004. He also tied for first place at the U.S. Open in 2005 and the Gibraltar Chess Festival in 2009. Although he tied in Gibraltar, he lost a special tie-break game against Peter Svidler.
One of his most impressive wins was at the Corsica Masters International Rapid tournament in 2005. He won the final match against Viswanathan Anand, who is another chess legend!

In 2015, Vadim Milov became the Swiss Chess Champion. He won a quick playoff match against Alexandra Kosteniuk to claim the title.
