Who Was King Vahe?

Vahe was a brave king who ruled Armenia. He was part of the Haykazuni dynasty, which was a long line of kings. He was the final ruler from this important family.

A Brave King

History books tell us that King Vahe was a friend to Darius III, who was the powerful King of Persia. Later, Vahe stood up against another very famous leader, Alexander the Great. Vahe fought bravely in a battle but was sadly killed.

Because he was so courageous, the name Vahe became very special in Armenia. It meant someone who was a true warrior and a true king. Even today, many Armenian people are named Vahe because of him. It is a common given name there.

The End of a Dynasty

When King Vahe died, the Haykazuni family's rule over Armenia ended. After his death, Armenia was controlled by the Macedonian Empire for about 10 years. This was the empire led by Alexander the Great.
