Vahid Hashemian Korbekandi (Persian: وحيد هاشميان کربکندی; born 21 July 1976) is a famous Iranian football coach and former player. He was known for playing as a forward, scoring many goals for his teams. He spent most of his playing career in Germany. He also played 50 games for the Iran national team, scoring 15 goals. After retiring as a player, he became a coach, even working as an assistant for the Iran national team.

Vahid Hashemian's Club Journey
Vahid Hashemian started his professional football career in his home country, Iran, with a team called Pas Tehran. In 1999, he moved to Germany to play for Hamburger SV. He played alongside another Iranian star, Mehdi Mahdavikia.
Playing for VfL Bochum
After a short time at Hamburger SV, Vahid joined VfL Bochum. This is where he really showed his talent! He played three great seasons there, scoring 34 goals in 87 games. In his last season with Bochum, he scored 16 goals. This helped his team finish fifth in the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. This amazing performance meant Bochum qualified for the 2004–05 UEFA Cup, a big European competition.
Time at Bayern Munich
Because of his success at Bochum, one of the biggest clubs in Germany, Bayern Munich, signed him in 2004. He joined them for one season. He scored one goal for Bayern Munich in a cup game.
Later Club Teams
After Bayern Munich, Vahid Hashemian moved to Hannover 96 in 2005. He played there for three seasons. In 2008, he returned to VfL Bochum for two more years.
In 2010, Vahid came back to Iran and joined Persepolis, a popular team in the Iran Pro League. He helped Persepolis win the Hazfi Cup, which is a major cup competition in Iran. He played for Persepolis until 2012. On his 36th birthday, 21 July 2012, he announced that he was retiring from playing football.
Vahid Hashemian's International Career
Vahid Hashemian first played for the Iran national team in December 1998. After the 2000 Asian Cup, he took a break from playing for the national team. But four years later, he decided to return and help his country try to qualify for the World Cup.
Key Player for Iran
Vahid became a very important player for Iran. He scored crucial goals that helped the team. For example, he scored an important goal against Qatar in a World Cup qualification game in 2004. He also scored two fantastic goals in a win against Japan in 2005. He played in all three of Iran's games at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
He also played in the 2007 Asian Cup. Vahid Hashemian retired from the national team in 2009. He later shared his wish to coach the Iran national team one day.
Vahid Hashemian's Coaching Journey
After retiring as a player, Vahid Hashemian focused on becoming a football coach. He earned his coaching licenses, including the UEFA Pro Licence, which is the highest coaching qualification. He even did an internship with famous coach Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich to learn more.
Early Coaching Roles
Vahid started his coaching career in Germany in 2012, working with teams in the Oberliga Hamburg league. He coached SV Halstenbek-Rellingen and Niendorfer TSV.
Coaching at Hamburger SV
In 2017, he joined Hamburger SV, where he had played before. He worked as a coach in their youth academy and later as an assistant coach for their U17 team. For a short time in April 2018, he was even the caretaker coach for the reserve team.
Coaching the Iran National Team
From 2019 to 2022, Vahid Hashemian served as an assistant coach for the Iran national team. He worked alongside the head coach, Dragan Skočić.
Return to Persepolis
As of July 2025, Vahid Hashemian is the manager of Persepolis, the same club he played for at the end of his career.
