Vahid Hashemian Korbekandi (Persian: وحيد هاشميان کربکندی) was born on July 21, 1976. He is a football coach from Iran. He used to be a player, playing as a forward. Vahid spent most of his playing career in Germany. He played 50 games for the Iran national team and scored 15 goals. Today, he works as an assistant coach for the Iran national team.

Playing Career: Vahid's Club Journey
Vahid Hashemian started his professional football journey in his home country, Iran, with a team called Pas Tehran.
Playing in Germany: Bundesliga Years
In 1999, Vahid moved to Germany to play for Hamburger SV. He played alongside another Iranian star, Mehdi Mahdavikia. Vahid played 12 games for Hamburger SV. After that, he moved to VfL Bochum to get more playing time.
At VfL Bochum, Vahid had three great seasons. He scored 34 goals in 87 games. In his last season there, he scored 16 goals. This helped Bochum finish fifth in the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. They even qualified for the 2004–05 UEFA Cup, a big European competition.
Because of his success, Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in Germany, signed him. He joined them in 2004. After one season with Bayern Munich, he moved to Hannover 96 in 2005.
In 2008, Vahid returned to VfL Bochum. He signed a two-year contract. He played for them until 2010.
Return to Iran: Playing for Persepolis
On December 30, 2010, Vahid signed with Persepolis, a team in the Iran Pro League. While playing for Persepolis, he helped them win the Hazfi Cup. He extended his contract for another year in 2011. On July 20, 2012, he announced he would leave the club. The very next day, on his 36th birthday, Vahid Hashemian officially retired from playing football.
International Career: Playing for Iran
Vahid Hashemian first played for the Iran national team on December 1, 1998. This was a friendly game against Kazakhstan.
After the 2000 Asian Cup, he decided not to play for the national team for a while. But four years later, he returned to help Iran try to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Vahid became a very important player for Iran. He scored crucial goals for his country.
For example, he scored an important goal in a World Cup qualification game against Qatar in October 2004. He also scored two amazing goals in a win against Japan in Tehran in March 2005. Vahid played in all three of Iran's games at the 2006 World Cup.
He also played in all the games at the 2007 Asian Cup. Later, he decided to retire from the national team. He shared his wish to coach the Iran national team one day.
Coaching Career: From Player to Coach
Vahid Hashemian started preparing for coaching while he was still playing. He earned his UEFA B Licence in 2008. In 2012, he completed his A Licence.
In 2014, Vahid was chosen by the DFB for a special 10-month coaching course. As part of this program, he spent three weeks learning from Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich. He earned a German coaching certificate, which is like the UEFA Pro Licence.
Early Coaching Roles
Vahid began his coaching career in the Oberliga Hamburg league in Germany. He coached SV Halstenbek-Rellingen starting in October 2012. In July 2013, he joined Niendorfer TSV. He left this team later to focus on his advanced coaching training.
Coaching at Hamburger SV
In 2017, Vahid signed with Hamburger SV. He worked as an individual trainer at the club's youth academy for six months. During the 2017–18 season, he was an assistant coach for the club's U17 team. In April 2018, he was briefly appointed as the coach of the reserve team. He left Hamburger SV in May 2018 when his contract ended.
Coaching the Iran National Team
From 2019 to 2022, Vahid Hashemian served as an assistant coach for the Iran national team.

Personal Life
In July 2012, Vahid and his wife, Bita, welcomed their daughter, Elena.
Business Ventures
Vahid Hashemian has also started a business. He registered a brand called "German Sports" to make and sell sports equipment. He also founded German Home LTP GmbH, a company in Germany that exports home appliances to Iran.
