Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (born 27 March 2011) is a talented Indian cricketer. He plays for the Bihar in India and for the Rajasthan Royals in the exciting Indian Premier League (IPL). Vaibhav is a left-handed batsman. He made his first big cricket debut in January 2024. He holds records as the youngest Indian player to debut in both List A matches and the Indian Premier League.

Early Life and Cricket Start
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011. His hometown is Tajpur, a village in the Bihar region of India.
He started playing cricket when he was only four years old. His father was his first coach. When Vaibhav was nine, he joined a cricket academy in Samastipur to improve his skills. He also spent time practicing at an indoor stadium in Muzaffarpur, staying with a relative.
Youth Cricket Career
Vaibhav showed his talent early. At just 12 years old, he played for Bihar's Under-19 team in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy.
In 2023, he played for the India B Under-19 team. He scored 177 runs in six games, including two half-centuries.
In September 2024, Vaibhav made his debut for the India Under-19 squad. This was against the Australia Under-19s. He scored an amazing century (100 runs) in just 58 balls. This was the fastest century ever by an Indian Under-19 player. He ended up scoring 104 runs before being run out. It was also the second-fastest century in all Under-19 international cricket!
At the 2024 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, Vaibhav continued to shine. He scored 76 runs off 46 balls against the UAE Under-19 team. Then, in the semi-final against Sri Lanka, he scored 67 runs from 36 balls.
Domestic Cricket Journey
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024. He played against Mumbai. At the time, he was reported to be 12 years and 284 days old. This made him the second youngest player to play in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar. He was also the fourth youngest overall in the history of the Ranji Trophy. He became the youngest player in modern cricket to debut, beating the record of Yuvraj Singh.
In November 2024, Vaibhav became the youngest player to debut in T20 cricket. He was 13 years and 241 days old. He played for Bihar against Rajasthan in the 2024–25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
In December 2024, he became the youngest Indian player to play List A cricket. This happened during his debut for Bihar in the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Madhya Pradesh. He was 13 years and 269 days old.
IPL Career Highlights
In November 2024, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history again. He became the youngest player ever to sign a contract for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rajasthan Royals team picked him up for 1.1 crore Indian Rupees when he was just 13 years old.
On April 19, 2025, Vaibhav played his first IPL match for Rajasthan Royals. It was against the Lucknow Super Giants. He was 14 years and 23 days old, making him the youngest debutant in IPL history. He is also the first IPL player born after the league started in 2008. In his very first IPL game, he scored 34 runs from 20 balls, even hitting a six on his first ball!
On April 28, 2025, Vaibhav became the youngest player to score a century in the IPL. He was 14 years and 32 days old. He scored an amazing 101 runs off just 38 balls in a match against the Gujarat Titans. He reached his century in only 35 balls. This made it the second-fastest century in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian player. During this game, he also became the youngest player to score 50 or more runs in any T20 match. He also hit 11 sixes, which tied the record for most sixes by an Indian in an IPL innings.
Questions About Age
There have been some questions about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's official birth date. In an interview in 2023, Vaibhav said he would turn 14 on September 27, 2023. This would mean he is about a year and a half older than his official age. However, in November 2024, his father, Sanjiv Sooryavanshi, said that Vaibhav's official birth date is correct. He also mentioned that the BCCI (India's cricket board) had done a bone density test on Vaibhav when he was eight and a half years old.
