Val-du-Maine is found in the western part of France. It is located in the Pays de la Loire region. Within this region, it belongs to the Mayenne department. This area is known for its green landscapes and quiet towns.
How Val-du-Maine Was Formed
Before 2017, Val-du-Maine did not exist as a single commune. It was formed by joining two older communes together. These were Ballée and Épineux-le-Seguin. Ballée is the main town, or "seat," of the new Val-du-Maine commune. This means that the main offices for the local government are in Ballée.
Local Government
Like all communes in France, Val-du-Maine has a local government. This government is led by a mayor. The mayor helps manage the town and its services. As of 2017, the mayor of Val-du-Maine was Michel Cottereau. He served a term from 2017 to 2020. The commune also works with other nearby towns. This is called "intercommunality." Val-du-Maine is part of the Pays de Meslay-Grez group.
