Valentines is a small town located in the center of Uruguay. It's special because it's split between two different areas, called departments: the Florida Department and the Treinta y Tres Department.
What is Valentines Like?
Valentines is found on a high area known as the Cuchilla Grande. It is about 3 kilometers (almost 2 miles) from Route 7. Another road, Route 19, also passes nearby.
Why is Valentines Important?
For a long time, Valentines has been known for its natural resources. The ground here contains iron ore, which is a rock from which we get iron metal. A special type of iron ore called valentinesite is found in this area.
Valentines Wind Park
In 2016, a large wind farm was built close to the town. This wind farm has many tall turbines that use the wind to create electricity. It can produce 70 megawatts of power, which is enough to power many homes and businesses. This helps Uruguay get energy in a clean and sustainable way.
