Vance M. Badawey (born October 5, 1964) is a Canadian politician. He represented the area called Niagara Centre in the House of Commons of Canada. This is where Members of Parliament (MPs) work to make laws for Canada.
Mr. Badawey was first elected as an MP in 2015. He was re-elected two more times, in 2019 and 2021. He served as an MP until March 23, 2025, when he was not re-elected in the federal election. He also held an important role as the Parliamentary Secretary to Canada's Minister of Transport.

Vance Badawey's Political Journey
Vance Badawey started his political career in his hometown of Port Colborne, Ontario. He was first elected to the city council in 1994. A city council is a group of people who make decisions for a city. He served on the council for three years.
From Councillor to Mayor
In 1997, Mr. Badawey was elected as the mayor of Port Colborne. The mayor is the leader of a city's government. He served as mayor until 2003. After a short break, he ran for mayor again in 2006 and won. He continued to serve as mayor until 2014.
While he was mayor, he also served as a councillor for the Regional Municipality of Niagara. This is a larger government body that helps manage several cities in the Niagara area. He also worked on the Police Services Board, which helps oversee local police.
Serving Canada in Parliament
In 2015, Vance Badawey decided to run for a seat in the House of Commons of Canada. This is the main law-making body for the entire country. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Niagara Centre. A riding is an area that an MP represents.
As an MP, Mr. Badawey worked on national issues and represented the people of Niagara Centre in Ottawa. He was re-elected in both the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, showing continued support from his community.

On August 23, 2023, Vance Badawey was given an additional important role. He was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary to Canada's Minister of Transport. Vance Badawey served as an MP for nearly ten years. In the federal election held in 2025, he was not re-elected. The new MP for Niagara Centre is Fred Davies.
