Vara Municipality (which in Swedish is Vara kommun) is a local area in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. It is like a county or district. The main town and administrative center of this area is called Vara.
This municipality was formed from 25 smaller local government areas back in 1863. For a short time, between 1974 and 1982, the area of Essunga Municipality was also part of Vara.
