Velvet Brown is a professor of tuba and euphonium at Pennsylvania State University. She joined Penn State in 2003. Before that, she taught at Bowling Green State University and Ball State University. She also worked as an associate director of university bands at Boston University.
Velvet Brown is known for receiving a special award called the William Fulbright Fellowship Vinciguerra Award in 1999-2000. Many of her students have become successful musicians and teachers. Some have even won awards in music competitions around the world.
Velvet Brown also travels the world as a solo musician. She performs with different music groups and records music. She has performed in many countries, including Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, and Canada.
