Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is a very famous and often-visited temple in India. It is a Vaishnavite temple, which means it is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This amazing temple is found in the hills of Tirumala near the city of Tirupati. This area is in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh.

The temple honors Lord Venkateswara. He is believed to be an avatar (a special form) of Lord Vishnu. People also know Lord Venkateswara by other names like Balaji, Govinda, Srinivasa, and Venkatajalapati.

The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple sits on Venkatadri hill. This hill is one of the seven hills in the Seshadri hills range. Because of this, the temple is often called the Temple of Seven Hills. It is also one of the wealthiest temples in the world. Only the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram is richer.

Visiting the Temple

Many people visit the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple every day. About 50,000 to 100,000 devotees (worshippers) come here daily. On special days, like during the Brahmotsava festival, even more people visit. Over 5 lakhs (which is 500,000) of devotees might come. This makes it one of the most visited holy places in the entire world!
