Verne Troyer (born January 1, 1969 – died April 21, 2018) was an American actor, stunt performer, and comedian. He was known for being 2 feet 8 inches (81 cm) tall. This was because of a rare genetic condition, which made him one of the shortest men in the world.
Verne Troyer was most famous for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers comedy movies. He also had a small but memorable role as Griphook the goblin in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He passed away in Los Angeles, California, in 2018.

Early Life and Childhood
Verne Troyer was born in Sturgis, Michigan. His mother, Susan, worked in a factory, and his father, Reuben, was a repair technician. Verne had two siblings, Davon and Deborah.
When he was growing up, Verne often visited his Amish relatives in Centreville, Michigan. He finished high school in Centreville in 1987. Verne shared that his parents always treated him the same as his average-sized brothers and sisters. He said he had to do chores like carrying wood and feeding farm animals, just like them.
Verne Troyer's Acting Career
Verne Troyer's movie career started in 1994. The former president of Little People of America reached out to him. They were looking for someone of a "certain size" to be a stunt double for a baby in the movie Baby's Day Out.
After this first role, Verne got more jobs as a stunt double. He also had some funny small parts in other movies in the 1990s. These included Dunston Checks In, Jingle All the Way, Men in Black, and My Giant.
Becoming Mini-Me
Verne Troyer met with director Jay Roach to talk about playing Mini-Me. This was for the second Austin Powers movie. The star and co-creator, Mike Myers, was very impressed with Verne's acting. Because of this, Myers changed the script to give Mini-Me much more time on screen. This role made Verne Troyer very famous around the world.
Other Famous Roles
After becoming well-known as Mini-Me, Verne Troyer played the body of the goblin Griphook in the 2001 movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. He also had a big role as Percy in the fantasy movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in 2009.
