Vernon County was named to honor George John Venables-Vernon, 5th Baron Vernon. He was an important person who lived from 1803 to 1866.
What is a Cadastral County?
A cadastral county is a way to divide land. It's like a really old map system. These divisions help people know exactly where properties are. They are used for legal reasons, like when land is bought or sold.
Counties are further divided into smaller areas. These smaller areas are called parishes. Each parish has its own name and location.
