How VetUK Started
VetUK was created in 2005 by Iain Booth, who is a veterinary surgeon (an animal doctor), and Lyane Haywood, a scientist. They wanted to sell pet medicines that people could buy without a prescription.
Iain Booth explained why he started the company. He said his clients often told him that there were not enough choices for pet products. They also felt that the products were too expensive. So, he thought about selling pet medicines on the internet.
He first tried selling items on eBay to see if people would be interested. When he saw that many people liked the idea, he launched the VetUK website. The company started with its own money. At first, it was even run from Iain Booth's living room!
In August 2012, VetUK bought another company called Nutrecare. Nutrecare was based in Kidderminster.
