The story of Victoria began in 1939. At that time, the Romanian government made a deal with a German company called Ferrostaal. They planned to build a factory on the land where Victoria is now. This factory was going to be called "Ucea."
However, this plan changed during World War II. Romania declared war on Germany in 1944, and the contract for the factory was canceled.

The actual building of the town started a few years later, in 1949. At first, it had temporary names like "Colonia Ucea" and "Ucea Roșie" (which means "Red Ucea"). Then, in November 1954, the town was officially named Victoria.
