Early Life
Victoria Kjær Theilvig was born in Herlev, a town near Copenhagen, Denmark, on November 13, 2003. She grew up there. She went to a special school called Lyngby Handelsgymnasium. There, she learned about business and marketing. Later, Victoria became a professional dancer. She also spoke up for important causes. These included helping with mental health, protecting animals, and encouraging new businesses in the beauty world.
Pageant Journey
Miss Denmark and Miss Grand International
Victoria Kjær Theilvig started competing in beauty pageants in 2021. She joined the Miss Denmark 2021 contest. She finished as the second runner-up in that competition.
The next year, she was chosen as Miss Grand Denmark. She then represented Denmark at Miss Grand International 2022. This big event took place in Indonesia. Victoria did very well, placing in the top twenty contestants.
In 2024, Victoria was named Miss Universe Denmark. This happened because the original winner of Miss Denmark 2024, Emma Heyst, decided not to compete at Miss Universe 2024. Instead, Emma Heyst will compete in the Miss Universe 2025 pageant.
Becoming Miss Universe
As Miss Universe Denmark, Victoria Kjær Theilvig competed in Miss Universe 2024. The final event was held on November 16 in Mexico City. Victoria won the competition, becoming the first Danish woman to be crowned Miss Universe. She is also the first blonde winner since Jennifer Hawkins in 2004.
Victoria is the second Danish woman to win one of the major international beauty pageants. The first was Catharina Svensson, who won Miss Earth 2001.
During the first part of the competition, Victoria wore a special national costume. It looked like a Viking warrior goddess. It had beautiful red and gold decorations.
In the top 5 question round, Victoria was asked: "How would you live your life differently if you knew nobody would judge you?" She answered that she would not change how she lives. She believes we learn from our mistakes every day. She tries to stay positive and live each day fully.
In the final question round, Victoria was asked: "Miss Universe has inspired generations of women. What do you want to say to the ones watching you now?" She shared a powerful message. She said that no matter where you come from or what your past is, you can turn it into your strengths. She told everyone to keep fighting and never give up on their dreams. She wanted to make history, and she did.
At the end of the show, Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe 2024. The crown was placed on her head by the previous winner, Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua. Victoria was the first winner to wear the new Light of Infinity golden pearl crown. This crown was shown by the Miss Universe Organization in the same year.
