Victoria Whitworth, born Victoria Thompson in London in 1966, is a British writer, archaeologist (someone who studies history by digging up old things), and art historian (someone who studies the history of art). She has written many books, including historical novels, true stories about her life, and academic works. Her writings mainly explore Britain during the later first millennium AD, which is roughly from the year 500 to 1000.

Victoria Whitworth's Life and Studies
Victoria Whitworth studied English at St Anne's College, Oxford. She focused on Medieval languages, literature, and archaeology. The Medieval period is also known as the Middle Ages, a time in European history from about the 5th to the 15th century.
After Oxford, she continued her studies at the University of York. There, she earned her Master's degree (MA) and a doctorate (D.Phil.). From 2012 to 2016, she taught at the Centre for Nordic Studies. This was at the Orkney College campus of the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Her main research has been about ancient stone carvings. She studied Pictish sculpture (art from the Picts, an ancient people in Scotland), Scottish sculpture, and Anglo-Saxon stone sculpture. The Anglo-Saxons were a group of people who lived in England from the 5th century.
