Videotopia facts for kids
Videotopia is a special traveling show that teaches you all about the history of video games. It's like a science museum exhibit, but it moves around! This cool collection was first thought up by Keith Feinstein. Many of the games and items from Videotopia are now kept at The Strong museum in Rochester, New York.
What is Videotopia?
This amazing exhibit includes many different kinds of video game machines. You can see old arcade games and home game consoles. There are also special computer screens, called interactive multimedia kiosks. These kiosks let you learn fun facts about how games were made. They also show how video games changed popular culture, like movies and music.
By 1996, over 20,000 people had visited Videotopia. In 1998, Keith Feinstein's collection had 300 game machines. The traveling show itself usually had about 75 of these machines. By 2009, the traveling exhibit grew to include 100 machines. The entire collection had an incredible 15,000 items related to video games!
Who Helped Videotopia?
For a long time, Jeff Anderson helped run Videotopia. He was Keith Feinstein's partner and took care of the huge game collection. This collection was based in New Jersey.
