Vienna is a small, unincorporated community located in Pickens County, Alabama, United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place with a shared identity but no official local government. It's about 6 miles (10 km) from the state of Mississippi.
For many years, Vienna was a busy river port. From the 1830s, it thrived along the eastern shore of the Tombigbee River. This river is on the southwestern border of Pickens County.
However, after the American Civil War, things changed. A new railroad was built through Pickens County. This made the river port less important. Vienna quickly lost its status as a major trading hub. In 1917, the local post office closed down. This event marked the end of Vienna's official recognition as a town.

Vienna was once considered an official community. It was even listed in the U.S. Censuses of 1900 and 1910.
