Vikter Duplaix facts for kids

Vikter Duplaix was born on October 14, 1969. He is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. He also plays many instruments and works as a DJ. Vikter grew up singing in church choirs in Philadelphia and Augusta, Georgia. Later, he learned to create drum beats for songs at a music studio in Philadelphia.

Vikter Duplaix's Music Journey

Vikter Duplaix has released many of his own songs. He has also worked with famous artists. These include Erykah Badu, Jamiroquai, and Eric Benet. He often worked with his friend James Poyser.

Working with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Kenny Gamble helped him grow a lot. His connection with King Britt led him into dance music. Vikter sang on Britt's "Scuba" project called 'Swell'. Soon after, Duplaix started making his own music.

First Solo Album

Vikter worked on remixes and collaborated with groups like Jazzanova. He also created a mix album for the !K7's DJ Kicks series. All these steps led to his first full album as a solo artist. This album was called International Affairs. It came out in Europe in late 2002. It was released in the United States early the next year.

Second Album and Grammy Nomination

His second album, Bold and Beautiful, came out in 2006. It was released by BBE records. One song from this album, "Make A Baby," was very popular. It was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008. This was for the Best Urban/Alternative Performance.

New Music and Projects

On August 31, 2009, Vikter released a new song. It was called "Electric Love." He made this song available for free download on his website.

In 2012, Duplaix helped singer Bilal create a special mixtape. This mixtape was called The Retrospection. It featured songs from Bilal's album Love for Sale, which had not been officially released.
