Viktor Mikhailovich Kozin was born on February 22, 1953. He is a Russian naval engineer, which means he designs ships. He is also an inventor! He created a special way to break ice called the resonance method of ice destruction.
Viktor Kozin earned his PhD in technical sciences in 1994. He became a full professor in 1996. In 2000, he was given the title of Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
He has received many awards for his work. These include prizes for his ideas about how boats move and how to build them. He also wrote textbooks about naval engineering. Viktor Kozin helped build a large pool for testing ship models at Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University.

Amazing Achievements
Viktor Kozin has written over 500 articles and books. He has given 35 presentations at international meetings. He also holds more than 320 patents for his inventions! This means he has official rights to his many new ideas.
Main Activities
Professor Kozin's main work involves studying and improving ways to deal with ice.
- He researches the resonance method of ice destruction. This method helps break up ice jams and hanging ice dams.
- He uses special melting substances to help balance traffic jams.
- He develops new ways to clear ice and snow from roads.
- He uses the power of expanding ice to shape thin metal tubes.
- He creates technologies to make ice stronger. This helps when using ice for roads or platforms.
Awards and Honors
Viktor Kozin has received many awards for his inventions and scientific work.
- Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation (2000)
- Alfred Nobel Medal for inventions in Russia (2007)
- First prize from the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai (2009)
- Three silver medals at the "Archimedes" competition (2009)
- Two silver and one bronze medal at the Moscow International Salon of Innovations and Investments (2009)
- Silver medal at the St. Petersburg Technical Fair (2010)
- Silver Medal at the Tenth International Salon of Innovations and Investments (2010)
- Bronze Medal at the "Archimedes - 2011" Salon (2011)
- Gold Medal at the "Archimedes - 2011" Salon (2011)
Key Inventions
Professor Kozin has developed many important technologies.
- He created and put into use the resonance method of ice destruction. This method uses special hovercraft ships. It needs much less power than older ways of breaking ice.
- He developed a way to figure out how well underwater vessels can break ice. This helps them break ice using the resonance method when they rise to the surface.
- He designed ways to make ice stronger. This is useful for ice roads, crossings, and platforms that hold heavy loads.
- He improved ways to transport things over ice safely. This includes methods and devices to make ice stronger when vehicles move on it.
- He patented a technology to destroy ice more effectively. This helps clear ice jams on rivers during cold weather.
- He improved how explosives are used to prevent ice from causing floods.
- He developed ways to automatically balance spinning parts using special low-melting substances.
- He created a new way and device to clear snow and ice from hard surfaces like roads. His solutions are gentle on the road and much more effective than older methods.
