Villajoyosa (also called La Vila Joiosa in Valencian) means "The Joyful Town". It is a coastal town and a municipality in the south of the Valencian Community, Spain. It sits right by the Mediterranean Sea.

This town is the main historic and administrative center of the Marina Baixa area. It is located in the province of Alicante. Many people simply call the town La Vila. Villajoyosa is about 32 kilometers (20 miles) from the city of Alicante. It is part of the beautiful coastal area known as Costa Blanca, or "White Coast".

Villajoyosa has over three kilometers (almost 2 miles) of beaches. One of the most popular is the Platja Centre (Central Beach), which is very close to the town center. The river of La Vila flows through the town. The area is famous for its delicious chocolate industry and for being a popular tourist spot.

A popular place to visit is the Gothic Catholic church of the Assumption. It has a beautiful Baroque altar piece inside. The town also celebrates a famous festival called Moros i Cristians (Moors and Christians) at the end of July. This festival is so important that it has been declared an International Tourist Interest Festival. It remembers a time when Berber pirates tried to land by boat, but the town's people bravely fought them off.
