Vingåker Municipality (Vingåkers kommun) is a special area in central Sweden. It is a municipality located in Södermanland County. The main town, or "seat," where the local government is, is called Vingåker. This municipality has been its current size since a local government change in 1971.

Geography and Nature
Vingåker is an inland municipality, meaning it is not located by the sea. Even so, most of its land is quite flat. The lowest point in the area is the shoreline of Hjälmaren lake, which is about 22 meters (72 feet) above sea level. The highest point is a hill near the Östergötland county line, reaching about 116 meters (381 feet) high.

Symbols of Vingåker
The Coat of Arms
The coat of arms for Vingåker has an interesting story. It was created in 1941 and was the first one for a parish in the Södermanland province. The design was inspired by a hop plant that some local people saw growing on a farm. The left side of the coat of arms shows an oak tree. This oak tree is a symbol for the historical Oppunda Hundred, which was a large area that included parts of the municipality.
Places to Visit
Säfstaholm Castle
One famous place to visit in Vingåker is Säfstaholm Castle (slott). The municipality bought this castle in 1968. Today, it is used for different cultural events and art exhibitions. It's a great place to see history and art!
People and Population
Vingåker Municipality is home to many people. According to statistics from 2022, there were 9,058 residents living here. Most of the adults living in Vingåker are Swedish citizens and are able to vote in elections. The people living in Vingåker come from different backgrounds, making the community diverse.
