Virtua Fighter is a super important video game! It was the very first fighting game to use 3D (three-dimensional) graphics. This means the characters and environments looked more realistic and had depth, unlike older games that were flat (2D). It changed how fighting games were made forever.

The game lets you control a character and fight against another character. You can play by yourself against the computer or challenge a friend. It's all about using your skills to win the match!

How to Play Virtua Fighter

Virtua Fighter has a simple but smart way to play. You only need to use three buttons and a joystick.

Mastering the Buttons

The three buttons are for:

  • Punch: Use this for quick attacks with your fists.
  • Kick: Use this for stronger attacks with your feet.
  • Guard: This button helps you block incoming attacks from your opponent.

Special Moves and Strategy

You can also do special moves by pressing buttons together. For example, if you press the Guard and Punch buttons at the same time, your character will try to throw the opponent. Throws are powerful, but they only work if your opponent isn't attacking you at that exact moment.

The game is a bit like a game of Rock Paper Scissors with your moves:

  • Attack (Punch or Kick) can beat a Throw.
  • Throw can beat a Guard.
  • Guard can beat an Attack.

This means you always have to think about what your opponent might do next!

Game Release and Platforms

Virtua Fighter first came out in 1993 in arcades. Arcades were places with lots of coin-operated video games. People loved playing it there!

Bringing the Game Home

Later, the game was released for home consoles and computers:

  • Sega Saturn: It came out in Japan in 1994 and in the US in 1995.
  • Sega 32X: This version was released in Japan and Europe in 1995.
  • Windows: You could play it on your computer starting in 1996.
