Viveash is a suburb located in the eastern part of Perth, a big city in Western Australia. It's part of the City of Swan area. This suburb got its name from Samuel Waterman Viveash, who owned land here way back in the 1840s.

Discovering Viveash

Viveash is a friendly neighborhood found in the eastern part of Perth. It's a place where many families live and is part of the larger City of Swan region. Knowing about its history helps us understand how this area became what it is today.

How Viveash Got Its Name

The suburb of Viveash was named after a man called Samuel Waterman Viveash. He was an important land owner in this area during the 1840s. It's common for places to be named after people who were significant in their early history.

The Story of Samuel Viveash

Samuel Viveash traveled a long way to get to Western Australia. He arrived in the Swan River Colony (which is what Perth was called back then) in 1838. He sailed on a ship named Britomart all the way from Spithead, England. After arriving, he started to own land in the Avon Land District. If you're curious about what life was like for him, you can even find copies of his old diaries from 1838 to 1851 at the University of Western Australia Library.

Developing the Suburb

The area we now know as Viveash was developed by a company called Midland Brick. They divided the land into smaller blocks for houses in 1967. In 1968, they officially asked for the area to be named after Samuel Viveash, honoring his connection to the land.
